So I'm addicted to Pinterest and like most people I find a great deal of inspiration there. I'm also a do-it-yourselfer, and do-it-as-cost effective as possible type of person too.
I've always wanted the taller baseboard moldings but the expense of switching the whole house out just isn't justifiable. So when I found this great idea I had to put it to the test while we already had all the furniture out of our family room to clean the carpet anyway.
All I simply did was purchase off the shelf molding from a home center and installed approx. 5" off of the floor. Once that's on you just paint it and the wall (space between the existing base and new molding) the same white..........and ta-da! New 'tall' baseboards!
